Things that make you say...hmmmm......

Hello ya'll it's Richard

This week's BLOG is about the recently passed Proposition H in San Fransico, CA. Now to leave it to the loony LEFT to come up with something as stupid as this. Proposition H is an ordinance that bans the manufacture, distribution, sale and transfer of firearms and ammunition within San Francisco. Proposition H also prohibits San Francisco residents from possessing handguns within San Francisco. An exception would allow residents to possess handguns if it is required for specific professional purposes. For example, San Francisco residents who are security guards, peace officers or active members of the U.S. armed forces would be permitted to possess handguns…hmmmm.
Although Prop. H is likely to make San Francisco a destination for criminals, the measure is couched in anti-crime terminology. In the lone ballot argument supporting the initiative, Supervisor Chris Daly points to crime and suicide rates supposedly attributable to the mere presence of handguns. But as a point-by-point dissection of Daly's argument demonstrates, he is far from informed on the subject. Since no gun control groups had announced their support for the measure and not one paid argument in favor of Prop. H appeared on the ballot, Daly doesn't seem to be inspiring much confidence.
It's little wonder, for Daly makes no distinction between legal and illegal gun owners, and somehow manages to convince himself that criminals will simply stop dealing in black-market firearms because of Prop. H. As he puts it, "Fewer handguns in the flow of commerce will make it more difficult to obtain one." He provides no basis for this assumption and ignores statistics from such cities as Washington, D.C., and Chicago, which saw their murder rates soar after instituting gun bans. He also overlooks the considerable number of crimes that are prevented each year by defensive gun use. Whether or not Daly and other gun-banners want to believe it, there is no evidence that gun control reduces crime or violence. In fact, it has the opposite effect…hmmmm. I guess the thought was that Prop H would help shrink the swelling of handgun crimes, and reduce the itching and burning trigger fingers of criminals..hmmmm.
I received a call from the NRA this week, they are to file a lawsuit to overturn this Prop and were recruiting funds. The usual smoke and mirrors argument, if it wins in CA the rest of the country will follow. I declined the offer. I informed the sweet woman that here in Dixie we don't follow suit with California, but we look to states like Florida who recently had sweeping changes in their self defense "rules."…. hmmmm. Yes now in Florida you can "stand your ground" in self-defense.
I concluded my conversation with the NRA with this. To win the war on gun control issues, let's educate people, give them the facts, the truth about gun control. The facts and truth will speak for themselves. If the chosen few "peace lovin' tree huggin' enviro wackos want to form an opinion outside the truth and facts than so be it, they will be a minority. Hey after all this is America isn't it?
